How to make a successful Entry to the AEMT Awards

Once you submit your entry form on www.aemtawards.com, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to edit your entry. You can revise it as many times as you like before the closing date. Only your last version will be judged.

Ten tips for a winning entry

1. Prepare early. Read the category criteria carefully and give yourself enough time to put together a considered entry. Don't leave it until the deadline.
2. Enter more than one category if you're eligible. Each award has its own criteria, so tailor your entry to the specific category rather than reusing the same text across several.
3. Get your client's agreement before naming them. Work with the customer on any testimonial or endorsement. They will also be promoted through the ceremony and the coverage that follows, so it works both ways.
4. Answer the questions directly. Set out the benefits of your entry clearly and in order, rather than writing everything you know about the project.
5. Write in plain English. Avoid sales language and unnecessary jargon, and explain any abbreviation the judges might not recognise on first use.
6. Use attachments sparingly. You can attach documents to support your entry, but keep them to information that helps the judges understand the impact of your work. The core of your entry must sit within the word count on the form itself, a PDF attachment cannot substitute for the answers, except for a supporting endorsement or testimonial. If you are attaching more than one document, compress them into a single zipped folder before uploading. Guidance on zipping files is available from Microsoft's support site.
7. Back up your claims with evidence. Include data wherever you can. Where a project is too new for full results, provide an estimate or projection instead. If you quote a figure such as a 25% improvement in energy efficiency, state clearly what it is being compared against, a previous model, a competitor, or the relevant standard.
8. Check you meet the category requirements. Some categories, for example, are limited to technologies, techniques or services developed within the last one to two years.
9. Ask a colleague to review your entry before you submit it. Someone who was not involved in the work will read it the way a judge will, without the background knowledge, and can flag anything unclear. You can share your form easily using the "save for later" link at the bottom of the page.

Entries for the 2026 AEMT Awards close on Friday 11 September. The current deadline is always confirmed at www.aemtawards.com. Entering is free, and being named a finalist carries real promotional value, reaching an industry-wide audience for technical innovation, environmental commitment, training investment or any other area the awards cover. The value is greater still for the ten category winners announced at the gala dinner.
