Apprentice Standard Steering Group

Apprentice Standard Steering Group

The first meeting of the AEMT Apprentice Standard Steering Group marks the beginning of a collaborative effort to develop a recognised apprenticeship standard for the electro-mechanical repair industry.

This session will focus on defining the foundation of the standard — specifically, agreeing the job title and occupational description that will underpin the apprenticeship.

Participants will contribute their insight into the roles, skills, and behaviours that define a competent engineer within our sector. These discussions will ensure that the standard reflects the realities of industry practice and the needs of employers across the AEMT membership.

The group will be chaired by Jim Fowlie of Sensor-Works with expert guidance from Johnathan Williams, who has extensive experience developing engineering training programmes and apprenticeship frameworks.

Codes of Practice 2025

IMPORTANT:

The AEMT Codes of Pracice are being replaced with our provisional codes of practice at the end of 2025. Members will be asked to demonstrate compliance with these codes by 2027. The Secretariat and Council are preparing for this transition, ensuring members have the support, resources and tools needed to comply.
