By developing an innovative inverter testing system, IPS doubled testing capacity, cut testing time in half, and maintained 100% on-time delivery of 1,000 motors with zero warranty claims. MENZEL GREAT BRITAIN: 8.9million Water Consumers benefit from Ten new replacement Menzel Motors
Replacement of outdated kit – at pace! The project will maintain the security of supply to up to 8.9million London Consumers and is a highly strategic project managed by MWH Treatment. MWHT have been appointed by TWUL as EPC for the Coppermills High Lift Pumping Station (HLPS) Motor Replacement Project to replace the 10 No. motors on the existing high lift pumps. Menzel met all targets on delivery and performance first time on time and budget!
REWINDS & J. WINDSOR & SONS: Replacement Axles for a 129-year-old Steam Engine
This project focuses on manufacturing a new set of axles for a 129-year-old steam locomotive, blending heritage preservation with advanced engineering techniques. Using modern design tools, precision machining, and high-quality materials, the axles will ensure safety and performance while honouring historical accuracy. A key feature is the involvement of mechanical engineering apprentices, who will gain hands-on experience in applied manufacturing, problem-solving, and heritage engineering, creating a unique learning opportunity that bridges tradition and innovation.
SULZER SERVICES: Rapid Rewind of FPSO Motor
Routine maintenance uncovered a fault in a critical compressor motor on Bluewater’s FPSO - an urgent rewind was needed to minimize downtime and maintain environmental compliance. Sulzer completed the rewind in six weeks! The customer noted: “I doubt this turnaround time could be beaten, Sulzer pulled out all the stops to keep compressor downtime to a minimum. The expertise of the three service centers combined to deliver a well-planned project that exemplifies good customer service.”
WESTIN DRIVES: Diesel to Hydro-Electric Motor Conversion
In collaboration with a customer who manufactures machines for grinding concrete warehouse floors smooth, Westin Drives designed and commissioned a completely new drive system. Previously powered by diesel engines, an emission-free solution now employs a single 55kW mains-powered electric motor, with two electric servo motors controlling the grinding head position. Cost and carbon footprint per machine have both been reduced.The AEMT Codes of Pracice are being replaced with our provisional codes of practice at the end of 2025. Members will be asked to demonstrate compliance with these codes by 2027. The Secretariat and Council are preparing for this transition, ensuring members have the support, resources and tools needed to comply.
